Good To Be Green

Good to be Green

Good To Be Green is something we do in our school to improve the behaviour of the students in our school.

We have six stages in Good to be Green. These are:

warning, break time detention, lunchtime detention, two lunchtime detentions, three lunchtime detentions and an internal exclusion.

Good To Be Green Top Tips

    • A good top tip to not get your card turned is to do everything that you are told to and to not backchat or be rude to any adult in the school or children.
    • When you are in assembly you should sit still and quietly so you do not get your card turned and to be a role model to the school.
    • A main top tip is to show all the five core values all day, everyday and to show them not just one but all the time.
    • Show respect whenever you can and be kind to all pupils!

Good to be green

Teacher note: Each classroom in Riverview Junior School has a Good To Be Green board that looks like this. Each child has a named pocket with three cards in it, green in front, yellow behind and the red card at the back. In the photo, you can see two ‘turned cards’. This means the teacher has had to ask those children to stop disrupting the lesson. Reasons include: talking when asked not to, lack of concentration, messing around and so on. If the same child has to be asked more times it is highly likely their card will be turned to yellow and they will miss morning break the following day to attend a detention instead.

Quotes

I am going to give you some quotes for how to be good and how to not get your card turned…

It’s good to be green, even when you’re not seen!

Green is good but not orange or red.

Yellow and red are evil but its good to be fully green.

Try your hardest to be a very good runner green.

Good to be Green disco

At the end of every term there is a disco for the people who have stayed Green and read five times a week as a treat. If you get a half turned card but not a yellow or red you can still go to the disco. The disco is a very fun experience and inspires you to stay green for the next term’s disco. It also gets you ready to read five times a week so you can go to the next term’s disco.
