School trip to Kidzania for Ninja Maths Masters

Kidzania

Last week saw the Riverview Junior School first ever visit to Kidzania for those children who have successfully become Ninja Maths masters. Children in all 4 year groups have been trying their hardest to pass the complete Ninja Maths levels over the academic year and anyone who passed the master addition and subtraction by the first week back after May half term were to be treated to a special day out at Kidzania.

Kidzania is in north London and is an indoor city run by kids who can independently choose from a number of real-life entertaining activities including doctor, dentist, police officer, firefighter, actor and dancer. Designed for children aged 4 – 14 a Kidzania day out blends learning with reality.

Miss Ward, Head of Year 4, who accompanied the children on the day said Kidzania would be the perfect place to gain careers advice.

Kidzania dollars

Children enter a purpose made town centre and can look at each building where outside a sign is displayed saying whether you can earn money or spend money inside. You can see how long you need to spend in each building and then, with your earnings, you can choose whether to open a bank account or spend your money in the shops.

For example, to buy chips there are two possibilities, in one shop you can use your Kidzania dollars or across the street you can use real money you have brought with you. Some of our Year 6 students decided to use their own cash as they were saving up their Kidzania dollars to open a bank account.

What Riverview Junior students thought about Kidzania…

Taptej Khatkar worked at Hamptons Estate Agents and enjoyed helping to find the right houses for his customers.

Jellica Pen said it was one of the best places she has ever been to. She enjoyed playing Just Dance in a disco room.

Phoebe Everist enjoyed working as a DJ for Capital Radio and played the song – Never be the same by Camila Cabello.

Reuben Morphew and his friends had a great time in the delivery room picking up parcels and racing his friends to see who could deliver them first.

Evie Spencer spent some time making wraps with flour and water and she was able to take them home packaged up. She wants to make chicken wraps for her family once school breaks up.

Khhushhali Sen said Kidzania wasn’t what she had expected it to be, she thought it would be more realistic. However she said she had a great time. Her favourite parts of the day was Just Dance with her friends and being a paramedic.

Sukhpreet Thind agreed with her friends that Just Dance was a lot of fun as was the coach journey where they played games with Miss Stinson and Miss HW. However, she says Miss Stinson cheated! I asked Miss Stinson about this and her reply was, “I always won and they didn’t like it.”

Who knows who’s telling the truth? One thing for sure is Kidzania has been a huge hit and hopefully we shall be taking a coach load of Riverview Junior students again next year. If you’d like your child to be able to take part read our Top tips on becoming a Ninja Master.
