Fun theme parks to visit in the UK!

theme parks Wicker Man

Theme parks are a thrilling way to have fun. They can be fun but sometimes a little scary! There are many theme parks across the world and also many YouTube channels about this topic such as – Theme Park Worldwide and Coaster Crazy amongst many more. Once you have payed the entry fee there are no extra costs, apart from food and drink. So, once you’re in the park you can run around and have some fun on the numerous rides and attractions you can enjoy. Below you can find a list of some of the best theme parks to visit in the UK. Click on the links to find out more information.

Alton Towers

Alton Towers is one of my favourite theme parks in the UK. It has many rides such as the iconic Smiler, Galactica, Oblivion, and plenty of others. Unfortunately, The Smiler had a crash in 2016 and the ride was shut for investigation until early 2017 but don’t let that put you off because it is amazing whether you ride this 14 looping beast or not. If you choose to ride, you can buy a picture of your experience as well as a video if you wanted to!

Galactica isn’t a ride for everyone, it’s a re-theme of the original ride Air which is a flying coaster. You are seated in a flight position inside the car and you have the option to wear a VR (virtual reality) headset whilst on the ride (new for 2017).  You will fly through portals and many different parts of Galactica’s surroundings on the most awesome ride that you won’t forget in a hurry.

Oblivion is the world’s first vertical drop roller coaster. While being a short ride it really is intense. You climb on a lift hill to around 55 m in a train of three rows and come to a stop over a huge drop. Suddenly, you are released and you plummet down the drop at 68 mph!

Also, this year SW8 (Secret Weapon 8) has opened, its name is Wicker Man.  I really want to try this one out!

Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park is more of a teenagers theme park. Although it has a lot of younger rides most of them such as Swarm, Stealth, and Darren Brown’s Ghost Train Rise Of The Demon are scary rides with the Ghost train being age restricted to 13 years of age.

The Swarm is a wing coaster, you sit in a row of four, two either side of the engine and brace yourself for a series of turns, drops and upside down sections of track. It all starts by going up a lift hill to turn slowly upside down and speeds down the main drop before going through many head choppers and splash sections. Exhilarating!

Legoland Winsor

Legoland Windsor is the most family-friendly theme park on this list with rides to suit all ages it is the place to go to learn and play with LEGO bricks and also have a great time. For the older children, I advise to go on the rides The Dragon, Sky Train and the 4D cinema. Don’t forget to check out Miniland and the LEGO exhibition centres.

If your little ones are upset that they can’t go on The Dragon due to height restrictions (check before you go) I advise to take them on the Dragon’s Apprentice and the Driving School – they’ll even pick up their own driving license!

Chessington World Of Adventures

Chessington World of Adventures is one of the best theme parks on this list. It has many rides for all ages and you can also see many different animals on your adventures! There are two awesome hotels on site at Chessington, the Safari Hotel and the Azteca Hotel – well worth looking into and staying over to make a great break. Look into the themed rooms to make your stay even more special, like the Gruffalo for example, a huge hit with young fans of this friendly beast.
