Riverview Junior School Plastic Petition

During our time at Riverview Junior School, we have learnt a lot about how our planet is suffering due to the enormous plastic crisis; we (Khhushhali, Abigail, Isabelle and Danni) have thought about this problem long and hard and this our solution…

Firstly, to start off this process, we researched the background crisis on plastic and how it has affected our planet over the years. The devastating pictures of Earth have made this even more important for us to put an end to it. The horrifying pictures are showing poor animals trapped in heaps of plastic waste and our beaches and seas contaminated with plastic refuse. The whole reason of this is because of us and how much plastic we throw away on a daily basis.

In order to make a change we have set up a petition to ask the government to change the law regarding how much plastic and which plastic can be used in products we buy.

Join us and sign our petition today on Change.org Law to Eliminate Non Recyclable Plastic to help make the world a better, cleaner place.

Read our research on Microbeads and go and check your household and beauty products to make a start on eliminating the amount of plastic you use every day.

Microbeads (small plastic beads) are spoiling are world! They are everywhere. In your shower gel, toothpaste, soap and many more household products. They are in these things to add scrub. However, they are harming our wildlife and nature! Thankfully, the government has decided to take some action against the nature gnashers – yay! Consequently they are banned in England; I hope they follow this example in other countries!

How Microbeads harm our wildlife

  • When we shower, brush our teeth and do many other things, microbeads end up down the drain.
  • This is the beginning of their journey to ruin the ocean creatures.
  • It travels through the drains ending up in the ocean, where the poor fish, (who do not see these tiny particles of harmful plastic) eat it.
  • We eat fish and therefore the microbeads are ending up in our diet too!

What you can do now

  • Don’t buy any products that contain microbeads (toothpaste, facial scrubs, suncreams) Find a whole list of products here

We hope you are inspired by our petition and want to join our battle of eliminating as much plastic as possible from our waste in the future. Don’t waste another moment and sign our petition NOW!
