Riverview’s Got Talent

It’s back! Riverview Junior School’s own talent show – Riverview’s Got Talent – is in its second year and for the past three weeks, Mrs Weekes and Mrs Foxwell have been watching auditions from every year group on Thursday evenings.

A total of 46 acts performed on the stage with an entertaining variety of dancing, singing, playing instruments and football skills; there was even a ventriloquist!

Week one auditions were Year 6 and Year 5, week 2 was designated to Year 4 and the third week saw the young Year 3 entertainers perform.

Matthew has very kindly agreed to return this year as our technician – a job he does very well – and this year’s presenters are Bessie (me) and Aisha who will introduce the acts and keep the show running smoothly.

Of the 46 acts, 44 students have been selected to perform in front of the judges for this year’s show on July 9th. It will be split into two acts and we think the judges will have a tough decision this year.

We are very happy to see that Mr Kendall, Mr Carlo and Mrs Wilmshurst have kindly agreed to judge this year’s winner and our celebrity guest joining them is Frankie Fitzgerald, an English actor best known as Ashley Cotton from Eastenders (Nick Cotton’s son).

Frankie Fitzgerald has worked extensively in television, film and theatre since his role in Eastenders, recently completing filming on Legend with Tom Hardy. He is very kindly offering a month’s free tuition to the winner of 2019!

Last year’s winner Lily, who sang the beautiful song Not About Angels by Birdy, was the first person to have her name inscribed on the Riverview’s Got Talent shield which is kept in the glass cabinets near reception.

Of course, everyone is aiming to win and have their name inscribed on the shield alongside Lily’s so, it’s going to be a highly entertaining show. We shall let you know when the tickets go on sale so you can make sure you are able to attend and watch The Greatest Show.

Ticket holders can expect a magical evening where the PTA have kindly agreed to help out again with refreshments, the school choir will entertain you as you come in and sit down and, of course, you get to watch the show live and find out before everyone else who this year’s winner will be.

All Thursday evenings up until the show will now be used for rehearsals where all of the performers can practise and perfect their performance.

I wish all of the acts the very best and can’t wait to see who the winner will be for 2019.
